One of the most photographed spots in Munich. If you stop by at 11am, 12pm or (between March and October) 5pm, you can also check out the famous Glockenspiel. Key moments of history are depicted here through the use of figures, and it’s all set to music.
Munich – Germany’s “village of millions” – is definitely worth a visit. Even if you’re not a city lover at all, but prefer nature, it’s worth spending a few days here. You don’t get the typical big-city experience that you might already know from other German cities. Munich covers a wide area, with several spots where you can be surrounded by nature. However, the history, culture and architecture of Munich are truly impressive. You can look forward to a unique experience!
Your journey starts here. You can easily reach Munich from anywhere by train, plane, bus or even with your own car. After exploring the city for a few days, you can pick up the Freeway Camper from here and continue your journey in comfort.
Mein Aufenthalt:
Ich empfehle:
A small, cosy, family-run hotel. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff dressed in traditional costumes. The whole hotel is decorated in traditional Bavarian style. In the morning, you can avail of a delicious and extensive breakfast – freshly prepared every day.
The hotel is reasonably priced and quite central.
If you’re here in May, September or December, don’t miss the Spring Festival, Oktoberfest or the Christmas market. Aside from that, football fans will surely want to visit the Allianz Arena. You might even get tickets for an FC-Bayern home game! The Olympic Park and the BMW Museum are other great attractions. There really is something for everyone in Munich.

There is plenty to see and do in Munich’s largest park. On a walk through the park, you’re bound to pass the most famous building, the Chinese Tower. You’ll get a great view of the park and Munich from the Monopteros. Sports enthusiasts can watch the surfers on the Eisbach wave or try it out for themselves. The English Garden is a beautiful place – you’ll almost forget you’re in a big city!
Relax and barbecue by the river Isar! Enjoy a cool beer in the sunshine, cool off in the water and sunbathe on one of these small gravel islands. Here, you can relax among locals and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind for a few hours.
Traditional Bavarian cuisine and the latest brewing art in rustic charm – a visit to this tavern, which looks back on 500 years of history, is always worthwhile. Cheers!
What would a city be without a market? At the Viktualienmarkt, you’ll find fresh fruit and vegetables as well as local meat and fish. There are also stalls with unique specialities, spices and delicacies. Perfect to enjoy cheap street food and buy a few souvenirs at the same time.
